How to Remove Progress Bars in Teachable

By default, Teachable shows your students how far through a course they are with built-in progress bars. These are great for more chronological courses where students should work through the content in a specific order.

But not all courses are chronological. Some course creators want their students to work through the content in the order they see fit, so displaying progress bars doesn’t make quite as much sense.

Luckily, there’s a way to hide all of the progress bars with just a few lines of code.

How to Remove Progress Bars in Teachable

Step 1: Getting the custom code

Copy this snippet of code to your clipboard, ready to paste into Teachable:

.course-listing .progressbar,
.course-listing .course-listing-extra-info .course-progress,
.course-sidebar .course-progress {
    display: none;
How It Works

If you want to customise the code, here’s how it works.

  1. .course-listing .progressbar
    This targets the progress bars on the course listings for logged in students (for example, when they go to “My Courses”).
  2. .course-listing .course-listing-extra-info .course-progress
    In the same course listing elements, this targets the percentage value that shows up next to the progress bar.
  3. .course-sidebar .course-progress
    This class targets the progress bar that appears in the curriculum sidebar.

We’re essentially targeting those three elements and then telling browsers not to display them.

Step 2: Installing your custom code

This is the easy part!

  1. Copy the code to your clipboard.
  2. Open up your Teachable dashboard.
  3. Head to Site > Code Snippets.
  4. Paste your code into the CSS section.
  5. Click Save.

That’s it! No more progress bars.
